Authencity is next cornerstone of leadership and this will be our discussion for today. For me,this means embracing my slightly goofy self. It means little things like dressing in what I believed demonstrated my personality (whilst still being appropriate to the environment and society at large) It means big and important things like understanding and tapping into my strengths, a knack of empathy, listening, creativity and my positive attitudes. The 4th cornerstone of Leadership is Collaboration Many of us carry the image of leaders as the all-knowing superhero archetype. This notion of a leader who stands,commands and protects his or her followers; tells them what to do,how to do it and has all of the answers, all of the time - is unrealistic. I don't know about you,but i feel exhausted and intimidated just reading that description of leadership,let alone trying to emulate it! The third cornerstone of leadership is stillness. Oftentimes, we tend to value action over stillness. As human beings we are predisposed to get value in leaping from one side to another over stillness or waiting, even when it's obvious that stillness is needed. Stillness is our friend especially when it comes to leadership or playing leadership role. Vision in leadership is important. We all know it. But, oftentimes, we can't really paint the picture of what that vision looks like in practice. Most times vision is couched in a goal such as growing revenue by 10% in 2020. While goals are very important, that's not what I'm talking about here. What I'm talking about here now is a vision that's so clear to the extent that you can visualise it-and so everyone around you. That's what vision is all about.
