Level 1 of leadership (Position)

I know you will definitely be surprised!! If you are hearing this for the first time that "Position is the first level of leadership"

Position is the lowest level of leadership—Infact it is the entry level.
If all that makes you a leader is the position you occupied then you are not a leader yet, because, position doesn't make your a leader.

I told you in our last discussion that leadership is about influencing your follower(s) and
the only influence a positional leader has is that which comes with the title, office or the position he/she occupies, which implies that people follow because they have to and not because they like or want to

Positional leadership is based on the rights granted by the position and title. "Nothing is wrong with having a leadership position.
Everything is wrong with using position to get people to follow" because Position is a poor substitute for influence.

People who make it only to Level 1 are bosses, but they are never leaders. A boss is not a leader, a manager is not a leader there's huge difference between them. A boss uses command's as a tool for communication, Managers only manage's what's on the ground they don't usually think about the future they are concerned with the present,an average manager is not a thinker they rely on principles methods and formulars  that they where taught in college and in their field of specialization, but a leader See's into the future and influence his/her follower to see that future and buy into it and finally owned it.

Positional leaders have subordinates, not team members. They rely on rules, regulations, policies, and organization charts to control their people. Their people will only follow them within the stated boundaries of their authority. And their people will usually do only what is required of them.

When positional leaders ask for extra effort or
time, they usually don't get it. Positional leaders usually have difficulty working with volunteers, younger people, and the highly educated. Why?
Because positional leaders have no influence, and these types of people tend to be more independent.

Position is the only level that does not require ability and effort to achieve. Anyone can be appointed to a position but it takes Influence to get the best out of the position you are occupying.
